Privacy as architecture
All AI processing happens on-device. No video, no audio, no behavioural data ever leaves the home. Not as an option: as a structural choice.
Pantoufle is an Italian company designing on-device AI tools for people with mild-to-moderate cognitive disabilities and for the families that walk alongside them. Privacy as architecture, not as a slogan. No diagnoses, no cloud.
It was born from the direct experience of a family that faces, every day, the same challenges as millions of people in Italy. From 27 years of work on real-time systems, embedded software, and applied AI, brought back to one simple question: what can technology do to never replace someone close to you, while still being there when no one else can be?
The answer isn't one more app, nor a cloud service that listens to everything. It's an appliance that lives in the home, understands the context, and talks with the person — staying, physically and technically, within the walls where that person lives.
For us, the choice not to go to the cloud is not a technical detail: it's a moral choice. People living with fragility don't need to be watched remotely. They need a present, discreet ally — and a family that can really trust the technology they bring home.
All AI processing happens on-device. No video, no audio, no behavioural data ever leaves the home. Not as an option: as a structural choice.
Our tools don't diagnose, don't monitor vital signs, don't replace doctors or caregivers. They are assistive tools. Accessible without the MDR path, compatible with Italian Law 104 funding.
Pantoufle S.r.l. (in formation) is based in Milan. All development is Italian and production is designed to stay European.
Vesper is our first product. A hardware/software appliance that lives in the rooms of the home, recognises risky situations and guides the person with contextual voice prompts. For people living with mild dementia, autism (high and medium functioning), severe ADHD, or fragile people living alone.
Smart in-home awareness and contextual voice guidance for people with cognitive disabilities.
The Vesper proof-of-concept works: the AI analyses the home context and generates appropriate voice interactions. The technology is there.
Ten selected families. Rapid iteration on hardware, software, and the ergonomics of voice prompts. Structured data collection on effectiveness.
Building out the technical team — embedded and AI/ML engineers — and full documentation for the next phase.
